Physiological changes

When getting older, some physiological changes can happen in your body.
Firstly, your sense of taste and smell can become slightly reduced which means meals will not have the same level of deliciousness as when one was younger. Secondly, with older age, one also needs more fluid than when younger.
In addition, like the decrease in taste and smell, thirst may also decrease, although you still need as much water. Therefore, it is important to always have access to liquid.

Seniors can sometimes also get full faster than at a younger age. In addition, the stomach tends to empty more slowly, so one can feel satisfied longer. With these things in mind, try to regularly enjoy tasteful, energy dense and nutrient-rich meals in a pleasant dining environment :-)
