Mother´s Milk

As mother to a new born you can influence your baby´s food preferences later in life. Mother´s milk tastes like what you are eating. Women who eat a variety of vegetables and plant food when they breast feed will pass the taste of the food through to their milk, even greens. Children who get used to the taste seem to more easily welcome vegetables when they start eating solid food, as opposed to those who do not. So if you are nursing, try to eat a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. This will make mealtime easier for both your child and yourself as he or she grows older.

Do exercise some caution with foods that are spicy or that taste or smell strong when you are nursing, like garlic. The baby is newborn and deserves a kind and pleasant introduction to the wide range of flavors (in some cases strong flavors like these can cause colic).
