Fruit contains fruit sugar, which although natural, is still sugar and raises blood sugar. As well, many fruits, like oranges and grapefruits are also quite acidic and should be avoided before bed or first thing in the morning without something else in their tummies. Eating too many fruits can make your children restless and impatient. So be aware of how much fruit you give them during the day. As a rule of thumb, it is best to eat more vegetables and try serving fruit as dessert or a treat. Also, children do not have to miss the sweet taste of fruit; many vegetables, like carrots and beets, are quite sweet and delicious. Since vegetables also are alkaline, they are better for a child´s body and health. The main benefit from eating many raw foods is that the body changes from being acid to alkaline.
