Green Smoothie

The green smoothie is the most healthy and nutritious of all. It can be made with

pure vegetables or as a nice blend of fruit and greens.

Preparation

- Roughly chop the fruit and vegetables

- Place fruit in the blender, then the vegetables and 1/4 cup of purified water

- Blend to a nutrient-packed, yet delicious, smoothie!

If necessary, add more water, lemon juice, ginger and more to taste.

Excellent vegetables to use are:

Green plants, such as spinach, parsley, kale, cucumber, celery and salad greens,

in addition to avocado, broccoli, carrots and more.

Beautiful fruit that adds sweetness to smoothies are:

Banana, mango, pear and apple, in addition to lemon juice, which will enhance the

flavour and bring it up a notch.

You can also add various nuts, like almonds or some plant oils like Flax oil, to your

smoothies to give it another nutritional boost and add a different flavours and textures.

Tips to Enhance Your Smoothie Success

- choose ripe fruit and avocados

- remove stalk from vegetables when chopping. The stems can be kept in the fridge

  to use later in juices.

*When new to greens, try to begin by making a smoothie with 60% greens and 40% fruit

(a little more fruit if you are starting for children) and over the course of several weeks,

you can increase the amount of greens without even noticing. Just remember to

experiment and play around with the different vegetables you find, to make a smoothie

 you most enjoy.
